Everyone loves a party and themes a great
way to create an instant feeling of connection between the guests. It’s also a
good conversation starter between guests who don’t know each other well. It
takes a little bit more effort but it’s fun and in the end it’s well worth it.
Here are some ideas that don’t require a lot of effort to produce great
results.
- Hawaiian
It is cheesy but there’s a reason why it’s used so much. Props are
easy to make or cheap to buy and anyone can pull out a costume from their
wardrobe since all they need is summer clothes. Here are the key ingredients
you need to incorporate:
- Flower garnets
- Umbrellas and fruit pieces in drinks
- Hawaiian shirts
- Tropical fruit
- Beach items
- Sand
- Americana
It’s easy for Americans because it’s simple to get a hold of typical
American items. Most are probably in your home and you can get others very
cheaply if needed. The theme colours are of course red, white and blue. What
you will need:
- Items with flag symbols
- A lot of lights
- Pizza
- Red cups
- American beer
- Doughnuts
- Spring
No need to only do this in spring. It’s super fun to throw a spring
party in the middle of winter to have people forget about the cold and snow.
Bring out the spring dresses and light shirts. Just remember to turn up the
heating. You will need to incorporate:
- A lot of flowers and greens
- Bird ornaments
- Picnic food and picnic decorations
- A lot of floral colours and patterns
- Superhero
Since superheroes are very popular right now this is the perfect
time to use them as your theme. Items to use are plentiful and your guests will
have a lot of fun coming up with their super hero name, powers and costume. And
everyone can make a costume out of their own clothes. For decoration you should
use:
- Masks
- Comic books
- Bold colours
- Props from famous super heroes
- Name drinks to reference super powers
- Use napkins, plates, cutlery etc. for children’s parties with superhero motifs
- Pyjama
It sounds silly but it’s actually very fun and people find it easy
to relax. The idea of it is comfort. Just be careful to not make everyone too
comfy so they don’t fall asleep after a few drinks. Pyjamas are of course a
must. You should use:
- Pillows and cushions everywhere
- Drinks from mugs
- Marshmallows
- Feathers
- Night theme décor (stars, moon etc.)
- Nightlights
- Period themes
You can use any period in time but
obviously the last few decades are the most popular and easy to use. Especially
if your guests grew up in the era you’re using. It should be pretty easy to
throw together and would be very nostalgic for some. People tend to remember
the time when they were younger and they loosen up. Use whatever items and
décor you remember or know to have been used in that era.
